Variable Refrigerant Flow systems are the standard for any commercial building where multiple zones need independent temperature control from a single outdoor unit — showrooms, offices, hospitals, auditoriums, hotels and study centres.
Windsway Air Systems is an authorised dealer for Fujitsu General, Carrier and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, based in Chembukavu, Thrissur and working across Kerala. We handle the complete cycle: heat load calculation, system design, supply of genuine equipment with full manufacturer warranty, installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance.
Why VRF Over Conventional Split Systems
A conventional multi-split setup runs each indoor unit at full compressor output regardless of the actual load in that zone. VRF systems modulate refrigerant flow to match the real-time demand of each indoor unit, so a half-occupied floor draws roughly half the power. In a Kerala climate, where systems run eight to ten months a year, that difference compounds into a substantial reduction in running cost over the life of the plant.
Practical advantages for commercial buildings
- Single outdoor unit serving dozens of indoor units — far less terrace and roof real estate consumed
- Independent zone control — a conference room can run at 22°C while the adjacent open office sits at 25°C
- Long refrigerant piping runs — outdoor units can sit well away from occupied areas, so noise stays out of the workspace
- Mixed indoor unit types on one system — cassettes in open areas, ducted units above false ceilings, wall-mounted units in cabins
- Phased commissioning — floors can be brought online as they are fitted out, which matters on projects with staggered handover
Our VRF Design Process
We do not size systems from floor area alone. Every design starts with a heat load calculation that accounts for the actual building: orientation, glazing area and type, roof and wall construction, occupancy density, lighting and equipment load, and fresh air requirement per ASHRAE 62.1.
Getting this right is the difference between a system that holds setpoint through a Thrissur April afternoon and one that runs continuously at full load and never quite gets there. Oversizing is equally costly — an oversized VRF system short-cycles, dehumidifies poorly, and you have paid for tonnage you will never use.
- Site survey and requirement study — free, anywhere in Kerala
- Heat load calculation — zone by zone, room by room
- System selection — outdoor unit capacity, indoor unit type and placement, refrigerant piping layout
- Itemised quotation — equipment, piping, drain, electrical, insulation and commissioning listed separately
- Installation — refrigerant piping, unit mounting, drain routing, electrical termination
- Pressure testing, vacuum and charging — to manufacturer specification, documented
- Commissioning and handover — with operating instructions for your team
- AMC — optional, covering scheduled service and priority breakdown response
Our VRF work spans convention centres, auditoriums, showrooms, hospitals and study centres across Kerala — including a 429 TR installation currently underway at Cochin Trade Center. See all projects by district →
Brands
We are authorised dealers for Fujitsu General (O General), Carrier and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries — genuine equipment, full manufacturer warranty on all three. We also design, install and service VRF systems from Daikin, Toshiba and Panasonic.
Areas We Serve
